Develop a daily practice, and more
December 13 — 18 | 2026
Six days in Ahangama with nothing else asked of you. Mornings on the mat, afternoons in the detail, and the whole week pointed at one thing: the practice you already have, made clearer.
This is not a retreat. There are no excursions to schedule around. It's a week in the tradition, as you'd live it in Mysore.
How the day flows
MORNINGS - the practice, 7:00–9:00am
We open on Sunday with a Led Primary, where the traditional Sanskrit count builds stamina and pulls a room of strangers into one breath. From Monday to Friday the room turns to Mysore: your own sequence, your own pace, with individual guidance every morning.
Six mornings in a row is where the week does its work. Things shift by Wednesday that don't shift in a single class.
AFTERNOONS — the detail, 2:00–4:00pm
Two threads run through the afternoons.
FLIGHT AND FLUIDITY takes apart the physical problems everyone quietly wrestles with — backbending and vinyasa transitions. Opening the front body safely, with proper mechanics and breath. Jump back, jump through, and the core engagement and arm support that make floating possible rather than heroic.
ALIGNMENT AND STILLNESS goes underneath the shape. Two asana clinics give you a detailed understanding of how the body follows the mind inside a posture. Two sessions of chanting and meditation connect you to the roots of the practice and quiet the noise around it.
EVENING — yours
Rice fields, sunset, dinner in good company. World-class surf breaks are minutes away, and the afternoon sessions end early enough to catch the light.
who is this week for?
You don't need to be advanced. You need a practice — even a young one — and six mornings you're willing to give it.
If you've been practising alone, or on and off, or from videos, this is the week the pieces get put in order. If you've been practising for years, this is the week someone finally looks closely at the things you stopped noticing.
The focus is on being present rather than perfect. Come with the practice you have.
your teacher - Lorella Isidori
Primary and Intermediate Series practitioner and instructor
"As an Ashtanga educator, I am dedicated to guiding you through safe alignment and mindful breath awareness. Coming from a lineage that honours BNS Iyengar, I offer a highly detailed approach to the practice. This week is about giving you the practical tools to polish your practice, overcome obstacles, and truly connect with your inner lineage."
the setup
The week takes place at flowground studio in Ahangama, on Sri Lanka's south coast. The shala is indoors — wooden floors, air conditioning, and a tropical zen garden all around it — quiet enough that focus comes easily.
Between sessions there's time for a coffee in our small café, and, for those staying with us, the rooftop terrace or a dip in the pool. And when the practice is done for the day, the surf breaks and long empty beaches of the south coast are only minutes away.

The rooms are yours from Saturday 12 to Friday 18 December — six nights. Coming the evening before means you wake up on Sunday morning already here, rather than still travelling.

frequently asked questions
Do I need to know the Primary Series already?
No. You need to be comfortable with a regular practice of some kind. If you're brand new to Ashtanga, our daily Mysore program from 15 November is the better place to start — and a wonderful way to arrive at the intensive ready.
Is six mornings in a row too much?
It's the traditional rhythm, and it's why the week works. Lorella will adjust what you practise based on how you're moving. Rest is part of the method, not a failure of it.
What if I have an injury?
Tell us when you enquire. Mysore is the format best suited to working around injuries, because everything is individual. Lorella will build a practice that respects it.
Do I have to stay at flowground?
Not at all. The program is €200 on its own, and plenty of people join us from wherever they're already staying in Ahangama. Everything happens between 7am and 4pm, so it's an easy week to come and go from. You're welcome to join us for breakfast at €10 a day if you'd like to.
How many rooms are there?
Only a handful, across the triple, twin and private options. If you'd like one, it's worth telling us early — the program has more places in it than the studio has beds.
What should I bring?
Your mat if you have a favourite, a rug or towel, light clothes you can move in, and something warm for the chanting sessions. We have mats to lend.
Can I come as a solo traveller?
Most people do. Six mornings in the same room together tends to sort that out.
ready to step on the mat?
We keep the group small so that everyone gets real attention in the room, and there are only a handful of beds at the studio for those who'd like one.
If you'd like a place — with a room or without — or you just want to talk through your practice first, write to us.
