crafted as a home for us, to share with you.
Flowground is our passion project, a haven crafted to welcome you into our home and immerse you in the serenity of the slow island life, yoga and nature. A space to relax and unwind, to connect and be, to flow and to ground.
Our home has its roots in an old, charming Sri Lankan house once known as Kitchen Moana, a funky rooftop restaurant. Our journey began with small renovations, gradually transforming its origins into a unique retreat space. We’ve put careful thought into its design, keeping things simple and minimalistic while infusing every detail with love. Flowground is always changing and growing, offering a space that’s not just about staying but about being in continuous flow…
Every piece of furniture and artwork bears the mark of our thoughtful curation or bespoke design. This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible skills of the talented craftsmen and women we collaborated closely with. At flowground, our space reflects not just a place to stay but a collection of stories, experiences, and the craftsmanship that brings it all to life.

our story
Hey, we’re Jonas & Jane, and flowground means the world to us — it’s not just some project; it’s where our hearts are, our home, and it’s here for you too. It’s not just a place; think of it as an invite to unwind, connect, and just be.
Flowground came about because we wanted a place to call our own, and now, we want to share that with you.
Before our paths crossed, each of us discovered a fresh start in Sri Lanka. We ended up here after saying goodbye to our jobs in Germany. Both of us fell in love with this country and eventually with each other.
Fuelled by the urge to create and a mutual love for yoga, we decided to start flowground. Now, we’re excited to open our doors and welcome you to our island home.
our vision
As passionate yoga teachers and entrepreneurs we opened flowground both to share our practice but also to have a home for family, friends, and those to be.
Both of us have extensive backgrounds in different yoga styles and other movement practices but share our enthusiasm for Yoga Synergy and Ashtanga Yoga.

yoga synergy
It was Simon Borg Olivier and his unique Yoga Synergy style that revolutionized our perspective on yoga and became the foundation of our own teaching style.
Therefore, as certified Yoga Synergy teachers our main focus is on teaching this unique method –
Yoga Synergy, a dynamic movement technique, drawing inspiration from Ashtanga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, and physiotherapy. It engages the entire body, with focus in moving from the core, in a fluid, gentle yet powerful approach. The longevity of the practice emphasises joint and spine well-being, syncing movements with natural breath for a safe and inclusive experience.
With playful sequences, it warms up thoroughly, preparing for energetic and strengthening motions. The practice encourages awareness of physical, mental, and emotional aspects, challenging existing yoga beliefs. Yoga Synergy aims to be inclusive and accessible, allowing individuals to discover their on beautiful flow.

ashtanga yoga
Making use of the softness and gentle approach we practise in Yoga Synergy we are also big fans of the traditional practise of Ashtanga Yoga.
The intimate setting of Mysore classes allows us to connect with students on a personal level, tailoring instructions to their individual needs and progression.
Ashtanga yoga has a special place in our hearts. It’s been a steady anchor in our personal practice, and it’s our dream host a regular Mysore program here in Sri Lanka—right in the flowground studio shala.
With its quiet energy, wooden floors, and garden views, the space feels like it was made for early morning practice. We’re gently planting the seeds… and keeping the doors open for what’s to come.
